What’s a cute gift to give my fiance’ at our wedding? Am I to give him something @ the wedding/reception? 9

Mar10
wedding cufflink

Traditionally (just in his family) the bride presents the groom with some cute little gift like cufflinks, a watch, etc. I have no CLUE what to get him. He’s such a simple, clean cut guy, I’m lost!
Read on to see what this user had to say. Honestly I am very hurt. Read all this and THEN answer my question.

DEAR KITTY RODGERS:

Just another thing: to KITTY RODGERS, who doubted my relationship and the amount of my creativity:

I could think of a 1000 things that he would love and find very romantic. I am a spontanious, fun loving, wild girl. I need ideas on SENSIBLE, CONTEMPORARY things. Things that would not make my future in-laws skin crawl. (I like the vibrator idea though….) If you feel that my forthcoming marriage will be less than par simply because I can’t make my mind up on a simple gift, then the real problem doesn’t lie within my marriage, it’s your mindset

I’m pretty sure everyone have such headache before. Now is the solution time.

Can you please help me complete my wedding Tux? 1

Mar2
wedding cufflink
Aug 4th Wedding in So. Cal.

This is what i currently have:
1. black 3 button, single breasted tuxedo
2. White Microfiber laydown Shirt (french cuff)
3. White Silk Tie w. white floral pattern (not a bowtie)
4. Patent leather lace-up shoes
5. cufflinks

Now, to finish up, i can go w. the following but can’t decide what to do w. my midsection. Average build. If this was a regular suit, i would wear a belt to finish, but this is a tux w. no belt loops (and belts are a no-no w. tuxes). So the choices are:
1. Nothing. Tux is complete. Assuming jacket/tie is worn at all times, no one will see the midsection.
2. White Vest. heat from outdoor lunch reception may kill me. Only a bit of the vest will show under the 3 bttn tux. i would have to keep the tux jacket open at all times.
3. White Suspenders. Will i look dorky? but then again, if i don’t take off my jacket, no one will see it.
4. Anything else? i thought of cumberbund, but that don’t usually go w. silk tie.
Just a clarification. The reason why i am concerned about the midsection is because i am not usually comfortable with a bare midsection. i usually wear a belt when wearing dress pants and suits. It is NOT to cover a bulging belly or anything like that. Thanks
sorry, more details. all of the stuff that i mentioned above as having, i own. The only things that i can probably take back is the tie or the shirt. But i really like both.
About the tie that i currently have. It is a formal version of a regular necktie (white w. a bit of a sheen plus the floral pattern). it looks formal. Definately not a bowtie.

Like i said, i have most of the tux outfit done, just need the finishing touches.
Congrats, I agree there are so much things to be done before your wedding day. How about applying the solution here.

Great Anniversary gift idea? 9

Feb17
wedding cufflink

My fiance and I are going to be celebrating our first anniversary this month (yes I know, I waited until the last minute:) ) and I was hoping that someone could offer me some great gift ideas. I was thinking of getting him a really beautiful set of cufflinks to wear at our wedding. He is a very sentimental/emotional guy, not big into sports (scrapbooks are out, he already made one for me). Thank you!!
Luv2Answer–Despite the fact that I should in no way be defending my relationship to you, who obviously has some sort of bitterness/bad history, I feel that I should clarify that we have known each other for many years -this is our the anniversary of officially declaring our relationship to be a romantic one. We will be married in June of 2009. Please, answerers stick to the question and refrain from condemning my relationship. Thanks : )

Don’t worry! We have some nice reader that will give you the fantastic solution!

What shall i get my mum and dad for their wedding anniversary? 4

Feb15
wedding cufflink

I want to get them something they will actually like and not just pretend to like and never use. Last year i got them a set of modern crystal glasses, which they loved. My parents are in their late forties and aren’t really interested in soppy things with poems written on they prefer more thoughtful useful thing with some sentimental value (so engraved jewellery/cufflinks/etc out the question). They also love a drink so i was thinking some expensive wine or something. Any suggestions? Was thinking of spending up to £40
I agree budget have been the greatest concern since the start of this year! No worries, check out the solutions!

Wearing a black shirt to a wedding. 19

Feb15
wedding cufflink
A friend of mine is getting married this Saturday, and I’m unsure of what to wear to the wedding. Being Scottish, this would usually not be an issue for me, as I would simply go and hire a kilt outfit. Money is tight at the moment though, so that’s not really an option this time.

Necessity dictates that I’ll have to wear my one and only suit (which is black), however my dilemma is over what shirt to wear with it. I have two double-cuff shirts – one white, one black. I know it’s probably more appropriate to wear the white one to a wedding, but the thing is it simply doesn’t look good on me. I’m a bit overweight, and therefore the black is more slimming and suits me better overall.

If I go with the black I was planning to brighten things up with a purple silk tie, some silver cufflinks and a buttonhole flower. My experience of these things is limited though, so I’m really not sure if this would be appropriate for a wedding.

Any advice?
Thanks to all who have replied so far. I would wear a dark blue shirt, however the one I have is a single-cuff and is something I wear to work on a regular basis (and my friend who’s getting married knows this). For that reason, I wouldn’t wear it to a formal occasion.

If push comes to shove I can wear the white shirt, but it does draw attention to my size and makes me feel very self-conscious.

My friend and his fiance are fairly easy-going so I don’t think they would be offended by me wearing black – what I’m more concerned about is raising eyebrows among the older guests.

Perhaps, our blog reader reply answered your questions and doubt.
